Overview

SPACA6 antisense RNA 1 (abbreviated as SPACA6-AS1, also known as LINC01129, SPACA6P-AS, or long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1129) is a human long non-coding RNA transcribed antisense to the SPACA6 gene on chromosome 19q13.41[1]. SPACA6-AS1 overlaps with a microRNA cluster (mir-99b, let-7e, mir-125a) and is involved in complex ceRNA regulatory networks with these miRNAs, which in turn regulate the splicing and stability of SPACA6-AS1 itself and affect the expression of oncogenic or tumorsuppressor genes in various cancers[1][2]. Its dysregulation is associated with tumor biology, particularly in breast cancer, where higher levels are linked to poorer survival, and it may function in glioma based on modulation of cancer stemness and invasion through downstream miRNAs[1][4]. There are currently no known drugs targeting SPACA6-AS1, and it is not considered a druggable receptor or enzyme, but rather a non-coding RNA relevant for understanding gene regulation and cancer biology[1][2][5].
