SPATA17 antisense RNA 1 (SPATA17-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) gene that is transcribed antisense to the SPATA17 gene. Like other antisense RNAs, its presumed primary function is the regulation of gene expression, possibly through mechanisms such as transcriptional interference or chromatin modification, but specific functional data for SPATA17-AS1 is not currently available. There is no evidence in the literature that SPATA17-AS1 is a validated receptor, enzyme, transporter, or other classical drug target, and it is not currently associated with any known disease phenotype, nor are there known drugs or biomarkers relating specifically to SPATA17-AS1.
