Sperm microtubule inner protein 5 (SPMIP5) is a protein localized to the cytoskeleton and specifically the axonemal A tubule inner sheath of the sperm flagellum, where it is part of the microtubule inner protein (MIP) complex associated with dynein-decorated doublet microtubules[1]. It is predicted to function by reinforcing and stabilizing the structure of microtubules in sperm flagella, thus playing a role in flagellated sperm motility[1].
