Overview

Spermatogenesis-associated protein 2-like (SPATA2L) is a member of the SPATA protein family, designated by homology to SPATA2, a protein involved in testis development and spermatogenesis[4]. SPATA2L is encoded by the C16orf76 gene. According to publicly available protein expression databases, SPATA2L is expressed in a range of tissues and cell types, but its precise molecular function remains uncharacterized. There is no evidence to suggest SPATA2L acts as a receptor, enzyme, or recognized therapeutic target. It is distinct from SPATA2, which has known roles in spermatogenesis and TNF signaling. Scientific literature still lacks definitive information regarding the biological or pathological roles, relevance as a biomarker, or association with drug mechanisms for SPATA2L.
