Spermatogenesis-associated protein 3 (SPATA3) is a protein expressed predominantly in the testis and associated with the process of spermatogenesis. It is predicted to be a membrane protein, possibly involved in spermatocyte apoptosis and male germ cell biology. No direct evidence supports its role as a therapeutic drug target or biomarker, and there are no known drugs interacting with this protein. Mouse knockout studies suggest SPATA3 deficiency can impair male germ cell fertilization in vitro without affecting overall fertility in vivo, highlighting its role in fine regulation of sperm function. SPATA3 has been linked to rare developmental and neurological syndromes, but its mechanistic involvement in human disease is not well established.
