Sphingosine-1-phosphate receptor 1 (S1P1) is a G protein-coupled receptor that binds sphingosine 1-phosphate (S1P). It plays a crucial role in vascular maturation, barrier function, and immune cell trafficking. S1P1 is highly expressed on endothelial cells and lymphocytes. Its modulation is a validated therapeutic strategy for autoimmune diseases like multiple sclerosis.
