Sphingosine 1-phosphate receptor subtype 5 (S1PR5)

Target
S1PR5
Molecular classification
G protein-coupled receptor, Receptor
01

Overview

Sphingosine 1-phosphate receptor subtype 5 (S1PR5) is a G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) that binds the bioactive lipid sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P). It plays a critical role in regulating T cell trafficking, particularly influencing the infiltration and emigration of T cells from peripheral organs and is involved in innate lymphoid cell development and NK cell trafficking. It is also a potential therapeutic target for neurodegenerative and demyelinating diseases by supporting oligodendrocyte function and myelination, and in cancer by influencing tumor growth and metastasis.
