Overview

Spinal cord neural pathways are organized bundles of nerve fibers (axons) within the spinal cord that transmit sensory and motor information between the body and the brain. These pathways are essential for relaying sensory input from peripheral receptors to higher brain centers, as well as conveying motor commands from the brain to muscles and organs. Key pathways include ascending sensory tracts like the Dorsal Column-Medial Lemniscus, Spinothalamic, and Spinocerebellar tracts, and descending motor tracts like the Corticospinal, Vestibulospinal, Rubrospinal, and Reticulospinal tracts. Damage to these pathways can result in a variety of sensory and motor deficits.
