Spindlin family member 2B (SPIN2B) is a protein encoded by the SPIN2B gene located on chromosome X in humans[2]. It belongs to the spindlin family, characterized by Spin/Ssty repeats, which are around 50 amino acids long and likely form independent functional units within the protein structure[1]. SPIN2B's function is partially defined—it is involved in the regulation of cell cycle progression and has a role relating to the inhibition of apoptosis after growth factor withdrawal[4][6]. The protein is also predicted to bind methylated histones and may be involved in controlling DNA-templated transcription[3].
