Target intelligence / Profile preview
The Spleen meridian is a primary channel in Traditional Chinese Medicine theory, associated with the Spleen organ and running from the tip of the big toe up the inner leg, through the abdomen and chest[1][5]. It is believed to govern the transformation and transportation of food and fluids, producing vital energy (Qi) and blood, and managing nutrient distribution and fluid balance[1][2][7][9]. The Spleen meridian is implicated in digestive health, muscle function, mental clarity, and emotional stability. Symptoms of imbalance may include fatigue, bloating, poor digestion, loose stools, edema, and weakened immunity[1][2][5]. Treatments in TCM aiming to “balance” the Spleen meridian include acupuncture, herbs, dietary changes, gentle exercise, and emotional regulation practices[2][3][7]. In biomedical science, there is no evidence for its existence or direct molecular function; it remains a theoretical and diagnostic construct unique to Chinese medicine.
TCM therapies—herbs, acupuncture, moxibustion, massage—said to restore Qi, blood, and physiological balance through the meridian, not via molecular interaction
