Target intelligence / Profile preview
Splicing factor 1 is an RNA-binding protein essential for the early steps of spliceosome assembly, specifically recognizing the branch point sequence in pre-mRNA introns and facilitating the ATP-dependent assembly of the spliceosomal complex. It also plays roles in nuclear retention of pre-mRNA and may act as a transcriptional repressor. Mutations and altered expression of SF1 have been linked to certain cancers and endocrine neoplasias.
