Overview

Splicing factor YJU2 (YJU2), also known as coiled-coil domain-containing protein 94 (CCDC94), is an integral component of the spliceosome, the complex responsible for catalyzing the removal of introns from pre-mRNA and ligation of exons to form mature mRNA[1][2][7]. YJU2 plays a critical role in stabilizing the catalytic core structure of the spliceosome and facilitating the docking of the branch helix into the active site, thus ensuring efficient and precise mRNA splicing[7][2]. It has also been implicated in cellular protection from TP53-dependent apoptosis following DNA damage and participates in signaling pathways mediated by p53 class mediators[7][1][2]. Disruption of its function may contribute to disease processes, including cancer and some neurodegenerative diseases, though specific disease mechanisms and drug interactions have not yet been established[1][2][6][7].
