Overview

SPRING1 pseudogene 1 (SPRING1P1) is a human pseudogene presumed to be a non-protein-coding sequence that shares sequence homology with the functional SPRING1 gene but contains mutations that prevent it from producing the protein product SREBF Pathway Regulator In Golgi 1[3]. Pseudogenes such as SPRING1P1 generally do not encode functional proteins but can regulate parental gene expression via various RNA-mediated mechanisms, such as acting as miRNA sponges (ceRNA), generating antisense transcripts, or forming siRNAs that influence mRNA stability[2][5][7]. There is no evidence that SPRING1P1 itself acts as a therapeutic target, nor is it currently linked to direct clinical roles or targeted by drugs. Pseudogenes may sometimes act as regulators or modifiers of disease progression in various contexts, but no specific disease associations or biomarker roles are reported for SPRING1P1[3].
