Overview

SPRY domain-containing protein 7 (SPRYD7) is a human protein encoded by the SPRYD7 gene, localized to chromosome 13, and structurally defined by a single SPRY/B30.2 domain without accessory domains, which sets it apart from other SPRY domain-containing proteins[2][6][7]. SPRYD7 has been identified in large-scale proteomics screens as upregulated in highly metastatic colorectal cancer (CRC) cells and is associated with poor patient survival, enhanced invasion, adhesion, tumor growth, and angiogenesis in vitro and in vivo models[3]. While initially named for its genetic locus involvement in chronic lymphocytic leukemia, its main characterized role to date is as a correlate and potential effector of CRC metastasis and tumor aggressiveness[3][4]. There are currently no approved drugs targeting SPRYD7, and its direct biological mechanisms and interaction profile remain under investigation.
