SPTY2D1
Molecular classification
Histone chaperone, Chromatin-associated protein

Overview

SPT2 chromatin protein domain containing 1 (SPTY2D1) is a chromatin-associated protein that functions as a histone chaperone, facilitating the stabilization and exchange of histone tetramers on chromatin. It is involved in nucleosome assembly, heterochromatin formation, and the regulation of gene transcription by binding DNA and histones, particularly promoting the formation of tetrameric histone complexes. SPTY2D1 plays a role in chromatin refolding in transcribed gene regions and helps suppress inappropriate transcription. The protein also interacts with branched DNA species, such as Y-form and Holliday junction DNA, and may modulate RNA polymerase I-mediated transcription[4][6][7]. No evidence from current sources suggests that it is a direct therapeutic target or is associated with specific interacting drugs, biomarkers, or notable safety concerns[3][4][6][7].
