Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) cells are malignant epithelial cells derived from the squamous epithelium, which lines various organs including the skin, respiratory tract, and digestive tract. These cells are characterized by uncontrolled proliferation, the ability to invade local tissues, and potential for metastasis to regional lymph nodes or distant organs. While not a single molecular target themselves, SCC cells serve as the pathological substrate for various targeted therapies, frequently overexpressing receptors like the Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR).
