Sam68 (Src-associated in mitosis, 68 kDa protein), encoded by the KHDRBS1 gene, is a member of the STAR family of RNA-binding proteins. It primarily functions as an adaptor molecule involved in regulating alternative splicing, signal transduction, and cell cycle progression. Post-translational modifications, such as tyrosine phosphorylation, acetylation, and arginine methylation, regulate its activity. Sam68 is implicated in cancer cell proliferation/survival and plays a role in HIV replication.
