Src Homology-2 Domain-Containing Protein Tyrosine Phosphatase 2 (SHP2)

Target
SHP2
Molecular classification
Enzyme, Protein Tyrosine Phosphatase
01

Overview

SHP2 is a non-receptor protein tyrosine phosphatase encoded by the PTPN11 gene. It is ubiquitously expressed and plays a central role in cell signaling downstream of RTKs and cytokine receptors. SHP2 regulates key cellular processes such as growth, proliferation, differentiation, survival, and migration through its modulation of pathways like RAS/MAPK, PI3K/AKT, and JAK/STAT. Mutations in PTPN11 are implicated in Noonan Syndrome, LEOPARD Syndrome, and various cancers. It is considered an attractive drug target for cancer therapy.
