Overview

SRD5A3 antisense RNA 1 (SRD5A3-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA gene located on chromosome 4q12, transcribed from the opposite strand of the protein-coding SRD5A3 locus[3][6][7]. As a lncRNA, SRD5A3-AS1 is not translated into protein; instead, it may regulate gene expression by mechanisms common to antisense RNAs, such as RNA interference, chromatin modification, or competition with mRNA transcripts[6]. SRD5A3-AS1 is being investigated primarily for its roles in cancer biology, particularly for its putative involvement in the regulation of cell proliferation and differentiation, but definitive mechanistic and clinical data are still limited[6][7]. No drugs are known to directly interact with SRD5A3-AS1, consistent with the current understanding of lncRNA biology[6][7].
