Overview

SREBF pathway regulator in Golgi 1 (SPRING1) is a protein-coding gene that encodes a regulatory protein primarily localized in the Golgi membrane[5][2]. SPRING1 is involved in the positive regulation of the SREBP (Sterol Regulatory Element Binding Protein) signaling pathway, an essential pathway for lipid homeostasis[8][2]. SPRING1 facilitates this process by modulating the correct localization of SCAP, a key component necessary for SREBP activation, from the endoplasmic reticulum to the Golgi apparatus[8]. While critical for lipid metabolism regulation, SPRING1 is not a direct therapeutic target and is not classified as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or similar druggable class[8][2]. There is no current evidence for its direct involvement in diseases, interaction with drugs, or use as a clinical biomarker.
