Overview

SRP14 pseudogene 1 (SRP14P1) is a non-functional genomic sequence with high similarity to the active SRP14 gene, which encodes a component of the signal recognition particle complex essential for protein targeting to the endoplasmic reticulum[4]. As a pseudogene, SRP14P1 lacks protein-coding capability and is not implicated in any known biological functions, disease associations, or pharmacological modulation. Pseudogenes may occasionally participate in gene regulation or sequence exchange with their functional counterparts, but there is no known evidence of such activity for SRP14P1[4]. All documented molecular, cellular, and disease roles pertain specifically to the functional SRP14 gene, not this pseudogene.
