SRY-box 17 pseudogene (ENSG00000274310) is a non-coding genomic locus in humans related to the protein-coding gene SRY-box 17 (SOX17), which encodes a member of the SOX family of DNA-binding transcription factors. The pseudogene itself is not known to produce a functional protein, participate in biological processes, or act as a therapeutic target. By contrast, the canonical SOX17 gene has a critical role in embryonic development, cell fate specification, and tumor suppression. Pseudogenes may sometimes serve as research tools for tumor subtype classification[4], but there is no evidence supporting clinical or therapeutic relevance for this specific pseudogene.
