SSBP3 pseudogene 5 (SSBP3P5) is a genomic DNA sequence resembling the functional SSBP3 gene but is classified as a pseudogene. Pseudogenes are typically non-coding and do not produce active proteins; therefore, SSBP3P5 has no known biological activity, therapeutic relevance, or disease association. All characterized molecular, biological, and pathological functions in the literature refer to the functional SSBP3 protein, which is a transcriptional co-regulator involved in pancreatic islet β-cell function, glucose homeostasis, and embryologic development[1][2]. There is currently no evidence suggesting SSBP3P5 serves a functional role or acts as a therapeutic target.
