Overview

SSU72 antisense RNA 1 (SSU72-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA transcribed from the antisense strand of the SSU72 gene locus. Long non-coding RNAs are regulatory RNA molecules that do not encode proteins but may play roles in gene regulation, chromatin modification, or transcriptional control. The canonical SSU72 gene encodes a protein phosphatase involved in transcription termination and mRNA processing, but SSU72-AS1 itself has not been extensively studied or validated as a drug target. There is limited information regarding its biological roles, disease associations, or interactions with therapeutic agents. It is possible that SSU72-AS1 participates in epigenetic regulation of the SSU72 gene or related transcriptional pathways, but there is currently no direct evidence supporting this function or any clinical utility.
