ST13P2 is believed to be a pseudogene associated with the ST13 gene, which encodes the Hsp70 interacting protein. Pseudogenes are DNA sequences similar to protein-coding genes but are generally nonfunctional—they do not produce functional proteins due to mutations or the absence of essential regulatory elements. The functional ST13 gene is involved in protein-protein interactions as a co-chaperone for Hsp70, playing a role in protein folding and stability. However, ST13P2 does not encode a functional product and is not considered a therapeutic target or biologically active molecule. There is currently no evidence of an active biological role, biomarker status, drug interaction, or disease association for this pseudogene.
