Stabilizer of axonemal microtubules 4 (SAXO4) is a microtubule-associated protein that serves as a regulatory subunit (PPP1R32) of protein phosphatase 1. SAXO4 is involved in the stabilization of axonemal (microtubule-based) structures, particularly in ciliary and flagellar cells, and is predicted to play a role in sperm flagellar motility. SAXO4 is mainly localized to the ciliary basal body and interacts with protein phosphatase 1 catalytic subunit (PPP1CA). The gene is associated with rare tumor types such as childhood and anaplastic ependymoma, but is not currently considered a direct therapeutic target or linked to pharmacological interventions[1][2][7][8][11].
