SND1 is an evolutionarily conserved multidomain protein involved in multiple aspects of gene expression regulation, including transcription, RNA splicing, RNA interference, mRNA stability, editing, and decay. It functions as an endonuclease and is a main component of the RISC complex, essential for microRNA-mediated gene silencing. It acts as an oncogene overexpressed in multiple cancers, promoting proliferation, invasion, and metastasis.
