Target intelligence / Profile preview
Staphylococcus aureus capsular polysaccharide serotype 5 (CP5) is a high-molecular-weight carbohydrate polymer that forms a capsule on the surface of S. aureus bacteria. It is a major virulence factor, enabling immune evasion by inhibiting phagocytosis and reducing complement binding. CP5 is a prevalent serotype among clinical isolates and a target for vaccine development.
