Target intelligence / Profile preview
Steroid 5-alpha-reductase type I (SRD5A1) is an enzyme that catalyzes the irreversible conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a more potent androgen. It plays a key role in androgen metabolism, influencing cell proliferation, migration, angiogenesis, and tumorigenesis. SRD5A1 is primarily expressed in non-reproductive tissues like liver and skin.
Inhibition of steroid 5-alpha-reductase, preventing the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT).
