Steroid 5-alpha-reductase type III (SRD5A3) is an enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT). It is implicated in prostate cancer and other cancers where it may contribute to androgen synthesis and resistance to conventional therapies. SRD5A3 also plays a role in dolichol synthesis which is required for N-linked protein glycosylation.
