Steroid sulfatase pseudogene 1 (STSP1) is a non-functional genomic sequence related to, but distinct from, the coding *steroid sulfatase* (STS) gene. Unlike the functional STS enzyme, which plays a key role in steroid hormone metabolism and is implicated in various diseases, STSP1 does not encode an active protein and is not considered a therapeutic target. Its presence is mostly of genomic or evolutionary interest[4]. STSP1 is **not** a therapeutic target. The correct therapeutic target is the active **steroid sulfatase (STS)** enzyme, but "steroid sulfatase pseudogene 1" (STSP1) is a pseudogene and should not be classified as a drug target[4].
