STING pathway agonists are molecules designed to activate the Stimulator of Interferon Genes (STING) pathway, a critical component of the innate immune system. Upon activation, STING triggers downstream signaling events leading to type I interferon production and other pro-inflammatory cytokines, enhancing antitumor immunity and antiviral responses.
Activation of the STING pathway leads to phosphorylation of TBK1 and IRF3, inducing expression of type I interferons (e.g., IFN-β) and other cytokines. Promotes dendritic cell activation, T-cell priming, NK cell recruitment, and enhances tumor antigen presentation.
