STK24 antisense RNA 1 (STK24-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) classified by its antisense orientation to the STK24 gene. It does not code for a protein and is believed to exert regulatory roles at the transcriptional or post-transcriptional level[4]. STK24-AS1 has been implicated in gene expression regulation, with studies suggesting that its expression profile may serve as a specific biomarker distinguishing ischemic stroke (IS) patients from matched controls[5]. Its function appears to be related to regulatory networks involving other lncRNAs, transcription factors, and coding genes, with possible links to the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway in disease processes[5]. There is currently no evidence that STK24-AS1 itself is a therapeutic target, drug receptor, or directly druggable enzyme or protein.
