Overview

Stomach Yin Deficiency Syndrome is a pattern diagnosis in Traditional Chinese Medicine, not a molecular entity or receptor. It refers to a deficiency of Yin (cooling, moistening, nourishing aspects) in the Stomach, which leads to insufficient fluids, dryness, and internal heat. Typical symptoms include dry mouth, dry throat, thirst (often with desire to drink in small sips), dry stools, poor appetite, and tongue changes such as a lack of coating or cracks. It often results from chronic disease, febrile illness, dietary imbalance, or constitutional weakness and can be accompanied by symptoms such as mild fever in the afternoon or evening. Herbal formulas such as Mai Men Dong Tang, Yi Wei Tang, and Liu Wei Di Huang Wan are traditionally used to nourish Stomach Yin, but these are combinations of herbs, not specific drug-target interactions in the Western biomedical sense. Since "Stomach Yin Deficiency Syndrome" is a diagnostic pattern in TCM rather than a defined biological molecule, receptor, or drug target, it does not fit standard classification structures used in molecular pharmacology or biomedicine. Therefore, it should not be listed as a therapeutic target in drug databases.
