Target intelligence / Profile preview
"Strengthening body resistance" is a broad physiological and therapeutic concept rather than a specific molecular target, receptor, or enzyme. It describes the overall enhancement of a host's immune system and defense mechanisms to maintain homeostasis and resist pathogens or internal threats such as malignancy (National Institutes of Health, 2023). In traditional medical systems like Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), this is referred to as 'Fuzheng' therapy, which aims to support the 'Zheng Qi' or vital energy through various herbal and biological agents (PubMed, 2021). In modern pharmacology, this concept is represented by immunomodulators and immunostimulants that target diverse pathways, including Toll-like receptors (TLRs) and various cytokine cascades, to improve the host's capacity to fight infection or cancer (StatPearls, 2023). Because the term refers to a functional outcome involving complex interactions between multiple cell types—such as T-cells, B-cells, and macrophages—and signaling molecules, it cannot be categorized as a single druggable entity. In drug development, researchers instead focus on specific molecular components of this system, such as checkpoint inhibitors or growth factors, rather than the concept of 'resistance' itself. Consequently, while the term is useful for describing a clinical goal or a general biological process, it is considered an 'incorrect' target for precise molecular docking or specific pharmacological classification (UniProt; NIH, 2024).
As this is a physiological concept rather than a molecule, it does not have a single mechanism of action. Broadly, it involves the upregulation of innate and adaptive immune components, such as the activation of macrophages, natural killer cells, and T-lymphocytes, often through the modulation of cytokine signaling pathways (NIH/NCBI).
