Target intelligence / Profile preview
SP0148 is a highly conserved lipoprotein antigen produced by *Streptococcus pneumoniae*. It is an ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporter protein and has been identified as an immunogenic protein capable of inducing strong immune responses and providing protection against fatal pneumococcal infections. SP0148 is considered a promising candidate for inclusion in next-generation pneumococcal vaccines due to its ability to elicit both humoral and cellular immunity across multiple serotypes. It activates Toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2), enhancing IL-17A response and is often combined with other antigens in vaccine formulations such as GEN-004.
