Streptococcus pneumoniae Serotype 1 Capsular Polysaccharide Antigen-Specific B Cell Activation via T-Cell Dependent Pathway Using CRM197 Carrier Protein (N/A)

Target
N/A
Molecular classification
Immune process, B cell activation, Vaccine target
01

Overview

The immune activation process involving B cells that specifically recognize the capsular polysaccharide antigen from Streptococcus pneumoniae serotype 1, when this polysaccharide is conjugated to the carrier protein CRM197. This conjugation enables a T-cell dependent (TD) pathway of B cell activation, which is essential for robust and long-lasting antibody responses. It involves B cell receptor binding of the conjugate vaccine, internalization, antigen processing of CRM197, presentation of CRM197-derived peptides on MHC II, engagement of CD4+ T helper cells, and subsequent B cell activation leading to clonal expansion, class switching, affinity maturation, and differentiation into plasma and memory B cells.
