Overview

Striatin-interacting protein 2 (STRIP2) is a cytosolic scaffolding protein and a core component of the striatin-interacting phosphatase and kinase (STRIPAK) complex, essential for cytoskeleton organization, cell migration, and cell morphology regulation. It plays a central role in cell signaling, notably modulating cardiac calcium handling by directly interacting with the L-type calcium channel in cardiomyocytes—a function crucial for heartbeat efficiency. STRIP2 is implicated in cancer progression, particularly promoting tumor cell proliferation, migration, and invasion in lung adenocarcinoma, likely via regulation of the Akt/mTOR pathway and changes in EMT markers. STRIP2 additionally influences embryonic stem cell differentiation through epigenetic mechanisms linking it to histone modifications.
