Stum, mechanosensory transduction mediator homolog (STUM), is an integral membrane protein predicted to be involved in mechanosensory signal transduction, based on its conservation with the Drosophila "stumble" gene[2][3][4][6]. In Drosophila, homologous proteins are essential for certain mechanosensory neuron functions, but in mammals, concrete experimental evidence for its function or disease involvement is lacking[6][8]. The gene is located on human chromosome 1 and is primarily predicted by sequence homology and computational annotation[8]. There are currently no known therapeutic interventions or clinical biomarkers associated with this gene in humans[2][8].
