Overview

STX17 antisense RNA 1 (STX17-AS1), also referenced as LOC441461, is a long non-coding RNA transcribed antisense to the STX17 gene. It functions as an oncogenic lncRNA in colorectal cancer, modulating cancer cell growth, motility, and cell cycle progression primarily through the RhoA/ROCK signaling pathway. Knockdown of STX17-AS1 reduces proliferation, induces apoptosis, and impairs cell migration, indicating its role in tumor progression. It has been proposed as a biomarker and as a possible entry point for understanding lncRNA-mediated oncogenesis, but it is not a direct therapeutic target in the sense of classical protein targets[3][2][1].
