Submaxillary gland androgen-regulated protein 3A (SMR3A) is a secreted, proline-rich protein expressed predominantly in the salivary gland and potentially some other tissues. It may participate in local protection or detoxification mechanisms, possibly via endopeptidase inhibition, and has also been predicted to regulate sensory perception of pain.
