SUCLA2 pseudogene 1 (SUCLA2P1) is a human pseudogene located on chromosome 6, related by sequence homology to the protein-coding gene SUCLA2, which encodes the beta subunit of succinyl-CoA ligase, an enzyme of the mitochondrial citric acid (Krebs) cycle. Pseudogenes such as SUCLA2P1 do not produce functional proteins and do not have known direct roles in normal biological pathways or human disease. There is no evidence to suggest that SUCLA2P1 serves as a therapeutic target, biomarker, or has interactions with drugs. The functionally important gene in this family is SUCLA2, not SUCLA2P1[7].
