SUGT1 pseudogene 3 (SUGT1P3) is a human pseudogene related to the functional SUGT1 gene. Pseudogenes are genomic DNA sequences similar to normal genes, but they are nonfunctional; they may arise through gene duplication or retrotransposition and typically lack the capability to code for a functional protein[2]. The functional SUGT1 gene encodes a protein important for kinetochore function, cell cycle regulation, and interacts as a cochaperone with heat shock protein 90 (Hsp90)[1][3][4]. However, SUGT1P3 itself does not produce a functional protein and has no direct therapeutic relevance, biological function, or role in disease based on current scientific literature.
