Overview

SUMO2 pseudogene 4 (SUMO2P4) is a pseudogene related to the functional SUMO2 gene, which encodes a member of the small ubiquitin-like modifier (SUMO) protein family. Pseudogenes are non-functional, defunct genomic DNA sequences similar to normal genes but typically lack the ability to encode a functional protein. There is no evidence that SUMO2P4 is transcribed or produces any protein product; it does not act as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or other therapeutic target family member. Several pseudogenes have been reported for the SUMO gene family, and like most pseudogenes, SUMO2P4 is not considered a therapeutic target and has no known biological function or role in disease[3][5]. Any reference to SUMO2P4 in drug discovery or mechanism of action would be incorrect, as it is not a functional gene product.
