SUN domain-containing ossification factor (SUCO) is a membrane-associated protein required for proper bone modeling, particularly during late embryogenesis. SUCO plays a key role in regulating type I collagen synthesis in osteoblasts during postnatal maturation and is involved in positive regulation of osteoblast differentiation and bone remodeling. There is evidence linking SUCO deficiency or mutation to impaired osteoblast function and bone development, and mouse models display strain-dependent lethality with skeletal abnormalities. SUCO has also been proposed to affect neuronal development, with potential implications for epilepsy-related disorders[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11].
