Superoxide dismutase 1 pseudogene 3 (SOD1P3) is a non-functional gene sequence classified as a pseudogene, sharing sequence similarity with the enzyme-encoding SOD1 gene but lacking known protein-coding potential or biological function. Unlike the canonical SOD1 gene—responsible for antioxidant activity and mutated in diseases such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)—SOD1P3 does not encode a functional protein and currently is not associated with any disease role, drug interaction, or biomarker utility.
