Suppressor of cytokine signaling 6 pseudogene (LOC100420800, ENSG00000254629) is a human pseudogene related to the protein-coding SOCS6 gene[1][5][8]. Pseudogenes are genomic DNA sequences similar to normal genes but are generally considered non-functional due to mutations or lack of regulatory elements required for protein expression. However, recent research suggests some pseudogenes, through their RNA transcripts, may influence biological processes such as gene expression regulation, often by acting as microRNA decoys, thereby modulating the expression of their protein-coding counterparts or related genes[11].
