Target intelligence / Profile preview
Suppressor of zeste 12 homolog pseudogene 1 (SUZ12P1, ENSG00000270618) is a non-coding pseudogene in humans, resembling the functional gene SUZ12. While SUZ12 is an essential component of the polycomb repressive complex 2 (PRC2) that regulates gene expression through histone methylation, SUZ12P1 does not produce a functional protein and is not considered a molecule with therapeutic relevance. Pseudogenes typically lack direct biological function or disease association, though rare exceptions involve regulatory noncoding RNA activities. Confusion sometimes arises due to similarity with SUZ12, which is implicated in epigenetic regulation and certain cancers.
