Target intelligence / Profile preview
Surfeit locus protein 6 (SURF6) is a highly conserved nucleolar matrix protein encoded by the SURF6 gene. This protein exhibits high binding capacity for both RNA and DNA but binds more strongly to RNA. It is predominantly located in the nucleolar granular component, implicated in ribosome assembly and maturation, and is expressed ubiquitously, consistent with a housekeeping gene. There are several transcript variants due to alternative splicing. SURF6 does not belong to any major receptor or enzyme families and is not considered a drug target at present.
Not applicable as there are no drugs or therapeutic interventions targeting SURF6
