Overview

Sushi domain-containing protein 2 (SUSD2) is a type I transmembrane protein with a large extracellular domain comprising several functional motifs (Sushi domains, somatomedin B, AMOP, and von Willebrand factor type D domains) typically found in cell adhesion and immune-related proteins[1][2][3]. It is highly expressed in several cancer types, notably breast cancer, where it may promote tumor cell invasion, angiogenesis, and immune evasion by interacting with the immune-modulatory protein Galectin-1. SUSD2 is being explored as a novel therapeutic target and biomarker for tumor detection and patient stratification, especially in breast cancer. Its full physiological function remains incompletely characterized, but it is implicated in cell adhesion, cell cycle regulation, and tissue specificity, with restricted expression in most normal adult tissues[2][3][1].

Mechanism of action
